Jessica Enders (Formulate Information Design, Melbourne)
Speaker Details
Jessica was the winner of the SoftLaw Prize in Computer Studies (1995) for the best aggregate results in 3rd year courses, including Graphical User Interfaces.
Jessica's employment history includes 5 years as a survey methodologist at the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 5 years as a survey designer for private research agency Colmar Brunton Social Research and almost 2 years as an interaction designer at Australia's premier user-centred design firm, The Hiser Group. Since October 2007, she has been running her own business, Formulate Information Design.
Formulate's mission is to fix forms: for companies, for not-for-profits and for the public. Through the provision of advice, design, training and research, Jessica draws on expertise across a number of areas, from graphic design to writing; from psychology to IT; from user experience to business process. She has done web and form design work for a diverse set of organisations, including Coles, Wesfarmers, SEEK, Origin Energy, AXA, the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, Airservices Australia, Therapeutic Goods Administration, Austin Hospital, Victorian Workcover Authority and Positive Life NSW. Her design of the Coles Insurance online quoting and purchasing process has delivered conversion rates better than all competitors, from mainstream incumbents (like AAMI and NRMA) to challenger brands (like Budget Direct and The Buzz).
Jessica is a warm and engaging speaker who makes (often complex) ideas accessible, relevant and timely. She has spoken at UX Australia, Web Standards Group (Sydney & Canberra), OzIA and OzCHI as well as the international conference for forms professionals, BFMA Symposium (held annually in the USA). She has also delivered form design workshops to organisations such as The Mayo Clinic and IP Australia, and has had research published in A List Apart, the respected web developers magazine.
