Take control! How to own your identity online

Learn about decentralised infrastructure for managing your identity online, using technologies like OpenID (in contrast to, say, CardSpace/InfoCard and Passport/Facebook Connect/etc kinds of technologies), and discussing the many ways in which the typical "username/password" paradigm is falling by the wayside, to make way for things like browser certificates, and out-of-band authentication via key fobs, and, say, XMPP messaging.

This kind of 'out of the box' thinking opens the door for (sometimes!) circumventing input issues on devices like, say, phones and Chumbies, where typing may not be so simple, but alternative verification is simpler and more intuitive (and still secure!)

It's all about giving power and control back to the user. It's about convenience *and* security. It's about improving the overall online experience.

(And, of course, I'll need to mention why these kind of technologies are problematic, and what steps are being taken to alleviate)
