Steve Collins (Canberra, Australia)
Speaker Details
Steve Collins has been developing web apps using ColdFusion for a long time. Recently, he took a break from applications development to spend some time working in the IT Security field, but has since seen the light and made a return to apps development. He feels his sanity is the better for it and no longer feels compelled to press really hard when he draws with crayon.
Steve has presented at several CF and Macromedia User Group meetings in Canberra, has led CF development teams on large enterprise applications and conducted training on CF and the ACME platform as well as web application and general IT Security.
He is the author of The ACME Guide (http://www.stephencollins.org/acme/ ), a popular and widely used reference among ColdFusion developers worldwide (or so it would seem). When his wife, Alli, discovered he had written a "book" she slapped him hard, as in typical geek fashion he had neglected to tell her (true fact). He had figured it wouldn't be interesting to her. Now he knows better...
The first edition of The ACME Guide, released in March 2005 was downloaded around 2000 times. The second edition, released in mid-September 2005 has been remarkably popular, with over 1200 downloads to date. The third edition of The ACME Guide will be released at WebDU 2006 and will contain lots of new information!
