The Google Maps API for Flash

For the past few years, Google Maps API for Javascript has been a great success story with the number of sites using the API increasing dramatically every month. However, until very recently Flash developers did not have many options for integrating their applications with Google Maps. This session will introduce you to the long-awaited Flash version of the API, step through a brief tutorial and show a few great applications developed with this API.

  • Difficulty: Fundamental
  • Prerequisites: You need to know a bit of Flex/ActionScript 3 programming.

Dmitri started his career as a software developer on Macromedia Flash Player Mobile & Devices team. During his years at Macromedia, Dmitri worked on multiple releases of Flash Lite for Symbian-based phones and was a part of a small team of enthusiasts who started Flash Cast. After a brief stint at Microsoft, Dmitri returned back to the Flash world - to help launch the first version of the Google Maps API for Flash. More...
