Have a Chat with Flash Lite 2.1

Flash Lite 2.1 is the latest version of the mobile Flash player and has some really cool advantages over previous players. One of the most notable advances has been the inclusion of XML Sockets for creating mobile data-plan friendly persistent server connections. Originally being available only for BREW handsets, Flash Lite 2.1 is now available for Symbian S60 and Windows Mobile 5.0 devices, greatly enlarging the supported handset base. In this session, you'll see how to develop a chat application using Flash Lite 2.1 and the Jabber chat client, as well as find out more on the Flash Lite ecosystem and how these applications are finding their way to consumers.

  • Difficulty: Fundamental
  • Prerequisites: Basic Flash development skills.
  • Session Track: Flex

BREW is an application development platform for CDMA-based mobile phones. Standing for Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless, it is a software that can download and run small programs for playing games, sending messages, sharing photos, etc.
