The web is changing rapidly with new devices entering the market on a daily basis. Web developers can no longer design for a single browser, platform or screen size. So what is the answer?

Session Detail

Learn how to create Resolution dependant layouts using CSS and JavaScript. This method can provide varied and flexible layouts that will work in a wide variety of different screen sizes – all from the same source code.

The presentation will be shared between Russ Weakley and Cameron Adams and cover:

  • the wide range of devices accessing the web at present (wide screen and narrow screen)
  • the various layout methods currently available - and their limitations
  • the concept of failing gracefully (sites fail in such a way that they continue to operate)
  • a solution that works for narrow, medium and wide screens
  • how CSS is used
  • how JavaScript is used
  • an examples in action
