Best Practices Pattern-Based ActionScript 2 Development

Aral Balkan will present a workshop in best-practices pattern based ActionScript 2 development.  The AMFPHP Pizza Service sample application will be investigated and rearchitected using patterns and the Ariaware RIA Platform ( open source ARP 2.0). (http://ariaware.com/products/arp/)

Topics covered, and will be a mix of theory and practical, include:

  • Foundation topics covered include objects, classes, encapsulation, inheritance and composition.
  • Learn to identify and separate the Model, View and Controller in a Flash application and understand how they interrelate.
  • The main patterns covered include Observer, Command, Controller, Business Delgate and Service Locator.
  • An introduction to the Ariaware RIA Platform ( open source ARP 2.0), a real-world pattern based framework in AS2.

Level: Intermediate

Prerequisites: Excellent knowledge of AS1 or real-world experience of AS2 and/or real-world experience developing with other OOP languages like C# or Java.
